A great night at the art exhibition!

Miscellaneous: 7 November 2011 1 Comment

The Art Exhibition is taking place in the Out of the Blue Gallery in Dalmeny Street in Edinburgh.

On Thursday 3rd November I went down to Edinburgh with my colleague Lisa Mead to attend the Opening Night of the special charity art exhibition that Trevor Jones, a Canadian-born artist who has been based in Edinburgh for 8 years, has organised to raise funds for us. Inspired by the declaration of 2011 as the International Year of Forests by the United Nations, Trevor sent out a request for donations of artworks on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Over 150 artists from around the world responded, donating 191 works, each to be sold for £45, with all the proceeds going to support our work to restore the Caledonian Forest. It's revealing that an attack on two men by a man with a mental health condition, instead of causing a debate about mental health provision, provokes an immediate political/media tsunami of demands for a crackdown on anti-genocide protests.
UK is having a mental breakdown.

Making the stabbing of two people a ‘national emergency’ because of their identity, when there are over a hundred stabbings every day, is infuriating and shameful

Doing it to serve a political agenda that advances and protects an ongoing genocide is evil beyond words
